Gino Cenedese ‘Scavo’ Murano Glass Candle Holder 1960s
Gino Cenedese 'Scavo' Candle Holder, Italy, mid 20th century.
This is a special and large candle holder made by the Murano firm of Gino Cenedese in the middle of the 20th century. A beautiful example of modern glass blowing techniques in combination with a classic theme. 'Scavo' literally means 'excavated' and what was intended with this method of glass processing is to achieve a result that resembles excavated centuries-old glass that comes out of the ground during an ancient excavation. This technique was invented by Cenedese.
The Cenedese candle holder has a beautiful large size and is impressive in design and execution. A true piece of art, made by one of the top glassblowers from Murano, Venice.
It comes in a very good condition, with no faults. The original label is partly intact on the base of the candle holder.
Height: 14.97 in (38 cm)
Width: 9.85 in (25 cm)
Depth: 6.3 in (16 cm)
