Jean Claude Mahey Desk in Lacquered Wood & Brass, Paris, France, 1970s.
This is a wonderful desk / table / vanity table in lacquered wood and brass by designer Jean Claude Mahey. A great and quintessential seventies Hollywood Regency design with hints to Art Deco and 1930s furniture. Great and deep 'Sang de Boeuf' red color and inlayed brass which gained a nice patination over time. This desk features nice proportions and clean lines, but looks very chique and rich due to the use of high gloss lacquer of a very grand quality. Seven or eight layers of lacquer are applied to the wood. There are three drawers at the front and a nicely finished backside, so this desk can be used as a freestanding unit in the room.
The desk shows signs of wear and use, but this is inevitable with a lacquered piece of this age. But overall it is in a good vintage condition and perfectly usable in a stylish and elegant interior. Great as a writing desk or as a vanity desk.
Please note: we also have the original table / desk lamp which belonged to this desk for sale. Please let us know if you are interested in that.
