Large Jaap Gidding Attributed 'Underwater' Painting from Tuschinski Theatre Amsterdam The Netherlands 1920s
Large Jaap Gidding Attributed 'Underwater' Painting from Tuschinski Theatre Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 1920s.
Mesmerizingly beautiful unique and very large museum quality painting from the famous art nouveau / art deco Tuschinski theatre in Amsterdam. Attributed to Jaap Gidding, one of the most interesting and versatile Dutch artists from the era and one of the artists who worked on the interior decoration of the theatre.
During the more than 100 year history of the highly distinct theatre building in Amsterdam, there were two major renovations and this painting was saved during one them. It has been in a private collection ever since.
Depicted is a beautiful underwater scene with fishes, corals, plants and much more. Wonderfully painted and shows a very refined yet free art deco mood - the hues, tones and colors are nothing short of amazing. The gold paint really shines and catches the light in a great way. Features lots and lots of fantastic details, little scenes and interesting color combinations. Due to the very large size and overall quality of this work this is a highly unique and room changing work.
The painting comes in a later frame - and is in a great shape.
Dimensions:
Height: 37.8 in (96 cm)
Width: 96.07 in (244 cm)
Depth: 1.58 in (4 cm)
